As part of the Diamond Leaders Training Series, I was recently interviewed. Listen to the interview to learn more about me, my experience with other home businesses and my current experience with this Gourmet Candle Company.

The internet is wonderful! But it doesn't allow you to really know who you are dealing with so we thought it might be helpful if we told you a little bit about ourselves.
We are Kim and Paul Cook, Diamond Distributors of these fantastic candles. We live in Minnesota with our 14 year old daughter and a house full of pets. We have a troublesome Golden Retriever, a lovable Bernese Mountain Dog, and 2 Jersey Wooley rabbits.. In fact, they are all part of the reason that we became interested in becoming distributors.
Paul is a dedicated employee for a telecommunications company and has worked hard so that I can stay home with our daughter. He is a caring person, volunteering often to be a coach for lacrosse or soccer teams. I think secretely that's his dream job but he is a wonderful coach to those starting up in this business so while it's a different kind of team, his spirit is still in helping others achieve their goals.
I have had the awesome opportunity to become a stay at home Mom and have so enjoyed being more active in our daughters school activities. Before "retiring", I was an advocate for child abuse victims, children who witness domestic violence and homicide survivors in the Hennepin County Attorney's Office in Minneapolis. I was honored to be part of that award winning program for 12 years before making the difficult decision to leave that rewarding work.
So, why are we here? Time. Money. Flexibility. Opportunity. We both believe in growth and change and frankly, we knew that in our current positions, we would perhaps have happy lives but we probably wouldn't be able to achieve some of the dreams we have for ourselves and our family without the opportunity for greater income. And of course we have other dreams too, like getting our daughter through college (okay, let's get through high school first). And most importantly, we wanted our family to be the priority in our lives.
Probably like you, we considered all our options. Having been a home party distributor before, I knew some of the ins and outs of the business. But when I looked more closely at this opportunity, I saw BIG differences that I thought would be to our advantage. So we weighed our options. And, I was reminded that a friend once gave me a mug that said, "no guts, no glory!" and I knew we really didn't have anything to lose by trying it out. Luckily we did and here we are today.
